A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.
It turns out that the “Fair and Balanced” network isn’t so fair and is definitely not balanced. I’ve been saying this for quite some time and so have many liberals but who wants to listen to a bunch of dirty unwashed hippies, amiright?
Us hemp wearing ganja smoking peaceniks have been whining about the fact that 2.5 million Americans view Fox on a daily basis and are fed outright lies and Republican propaganda through what is supposed to be a real news channel. Now a real investigative journalist is reporting that there is proof that they lie like rugs and they do it on purpose.
David Folkenflik (of NPR fame) has a new book out about “Murdoch’s World” in which he discusses how Fox News Corp PR employees use multiple comment alias (one person had as many as a 100 different aliases) to rebut and post positive comments about the news channel on any website that posted something negative about it.
Folkenflik also relates a story of how Fox News producers would purposely feed false stories to outside journalists in order to discredit them. See a journalist who lies is never respected nor believed again. And that’s precisely what Fox News wanted to happen.
Roger Ailes, Fox News Chief , and Rupert Murdoch, the owner, know exactly what they’re doing. They have a perspective and by God they’re going to share it with Americans no matter what. The truth be damned. If that means their News isn’t news but propaganda, so be it. If they discredit real journalists, oh well. If they’re using their PR and News staff as political weapons, that’s okay. If it contributes to the death of Democracy, that’s just the cost of doing business. The means don’t matter….just the end and the end is profit and power.
But it matters to me and all of us dirty hippies. It should matter to rank and file Americans, but it won’t. Because Churchill was more right than he could ever know. In this digital age, the quote should now read,
A lie circles the globe several times before truth can utter a whimper from its deathbed.
