After Dark

Slip through the grip
It pulls you back.
Shake the hold
it will give you slack
just before it hangs you.
Slick yourself up,
wriggle away.
You won’t have moved.
In it’s grasp you’ll stay.
Numb the pain and
cover the mark
Cry yourself to sleep
after dark.
