It gives me a serious case of the heebie jeebies whenever I hear Republican politicians talking about privatizing Social Security.  Matt Taibbi, blogger/columnist for Rolling Stone magazine agrees and wrote an excellent piece a few days ago on why the average American has been screwed three times by the banks during this Recession and privatizing Social Security and “supposed” reform of Entitlements would open the door to us being screwed yet again.  He sums it up much better than I ever could:

That means, in other words, that without the implicit promise of government aid, Wall Street considers these banks to be junk or below-junk businesses. Evaluated purely on their own merits, without the implicit attachment to the taxpayer, these companies actually have negative trustworthiness. And these are the people we want managing the nation’s Social Security accounts?
