Kicking and Screaming

An Arizona State Senator is proposing legislation to secede from the U.S. and create a “Baja Arizona”.  Along the same lines, a Senate committee is being formed to review Federal laws for constitutionality and if they find any that they don’t think are constitutional, they are going to declare that the State of Arizona does not have to obey them.

There are so many things wrong with these ideas that I don’t even know where to begin.  I’m not sure if it’s caused by their arrogance or their stupidity, but I suspect both.  In any case, something interesting occurred to me.  I considered waiting until the Senate actually considers the secession legislation and when it comes to a vote, I would love to be present so I can make a citizen’s arrest of every Senator who votes in favor of treason.  They would go kicking and screaming, but oh the sweet justice of it!  Can you just imagine?

Beyond the offense of treason, these idiotic politicians are ignoring what really matters in Arizona–jobs, the economy, jobs, oh and did I mention?  More friggin jobs!   The state’s economy is in a death spiral and they don’t seem to care.  News out today indicates that individual wealth continues to decrease. Maricopa County home valuations fell 11% in 2010.

Just like in Wisconsin the GOP is attacking the Middle Class here in AZ and not giving a damn what happens to the very real people involved. Wisconsin is the first domino and Arizona will be another important one in the line. When they fall they will take us back to the age of robber barons. If we must go into that dark night, let’s go kicking and screaming–protest, email and call your politicians in Washington, D.C. and in Arizona and tell them to stop this madness.
