Deficit chicken hawks

Sen. John McCain and Sen. Jon Kyl are running around shouting about the deficit and how we need to extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy without paying for them, but NOT renew unemployment benefits unless we pay for them first.  Hmmmm…..let’s see….the extending Bush tax cuts help the wealthy and increase the deficit by trillions but renewing unemployment job benefits helps everyone else and only increases the deficit by billions, which could be paid for by ending the Bush tax cuts.  Who do YOU think McCain and Kyl will represent?  You and me or their ilk, the wealthy?

I’m betting they’ll stand up for the wealthy.  Nevermind that a first grader can do basic math and can tell that their BS doesn’t add up.

Here’s the reality…history has shown time and time again that deficit spending often causes economic growth and particularly in times when we have the exact economic situation we have now.  Don’t believe me? Well here’s some great proof from Moody Analytics,  every dollar “invested in” unemployment benefits creates $1.61 in economic growth.  On the other hand, every dollar “invested in” the Bush tax cuts only creates $.32 in economic growth — that’s a 68 cent loss.

I can do the math. Why don’t voters do the math?  Why do Arizonans keep voting against their own self-interest?
